The Salmon River Central School Drama Club will perform Disney’s “The Little Mermaid Jr.” this month.
Students in grades 6-12 will put on three performances this year. Performances are scheduled for Friday, March 15, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 16, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Each performance is expected to last for approximately one hour, making it ideal for families with young children. All are welcome to attend any of the performances.
This is the first time Salmon River sixth grader Jules Bickford is taking part in a show like this.
“I am really excited to be playing a Disney character and to be a part of this show with really talented people,” said Bickford.
“It is so much fun to watch this show come to life,” said teacher and Drama Club advisor Elizabeth LaBarge.
LaBarge, who is serving as the director and costume designer for “The Little Mermaid Jr.,” said the students have been hard at work to make this a performance that the audience won’t soon forget.
“The students have been working hard to learn their lines, music, choreography and really developing their characters,” she said.
In addition, teacher Chelsea Perticone is working with LaBarge to put on the production, serving as music director, choreographer and lights and sound designer.
LaBarge and Perticone aren’t the only ones running the show. Sixth grader Clover Dustin is the student/assistant director, and sophomore Jack Washburn and junior Jacob Warner are serving as stage managers.
Tickets for each performance are $5 for students under the age of 18 and $10 for adults. Cash or Venmo payment is accepted at the door starting 30 minutes prior to the start time.
