Registration for pre-K and kindergarten is open for the 2025-26 school year for incoming students at Salmon River Central School District.
Families can register their child(ren) by picking up a registration packet at the Salmon River Elementary or St. Regis Mohawk School offices during normal school hours.
The registration deadline is June 1, 2025.
Registration criteria
- Students who are entering pre-K must be four years of age by Dec. 1, 2025.
- Children who are entering kindergarten must be five years of age by Dec. 1, 2025.
- Children who have already been enrolled in the Salmon River Preschool Program do not need to re-enroll for kindergarten.
- Parents or guardians must include proof of residency, a birth certificate for the child, immunization records and a Tribal card if they have one. Students entering pre-K must also have a record of lead screening.
Open house events to be held in April
Both Salmon River Elementary School and St. Regis Mohawk School have planned Pre-K Open House events in April for new parents and caregivers.

Salmon River Elementary School
Pre-K & Kindergarten Registration & Open House will be held on Wednesday, April 9 from 4-6 p.m. at Salmon River Elementary School, 637 County Road 1, Fort Covington, NY 12937. Attendees can stop in at any time.
This event is for new students and families who will be starting pre-K or kindergarten this coming fall. Come and meet the staff, check out the classrooms, enjoy a snack and receive a free gift for each student! If you plan on registering your child at the event, please bring your child’s birth certificate, lead screening (for pre-K) and immunization record.
St. Regis Mohawk School
Pre-K & Kindergarten Registration & Open House will be held on Wednesday, April 16 from 4-6 p.m. at St. Regis Mohawk School, 385 Church Street, Akwesasne, NY 13655.
Stop by anytime between 4-6 p.m. to complete your child’s registration, meet the staff, try a fun craft and take a tour of the school. A snack and free gift will be provided. Completed registration packets will be entered into a drawing to win a prize.
Don’t forget to bring your child’s birth certificate, immunization record and tribal ID if you plan on registering them at the event.
